No one has ever lost a limb nor died from a recluse bite. That’s just not how their venom works. 95% of confirmed recluse bites do nothing other than mild irritation at the site. About 4% of people develop lesions, and only about 1% develop the mythical necrotizing flesh wound. All recluse bites heal in around 14 days, unless the rare necrotization occurs, then it can be a couple months, depending on the person. I really think that the people that have adverse reactions to recluse either have or do not have a mutation in their DNA making them more susceptible to the venom. More research on my theory needs done. Some as how people that like cilantro have a mutation and people that don’t are unmutated.
