I don’t think it’s get off my lawn. I feel the same often. Obviously if you go to Zoli’s or Wild Acre, which are currently big kid birthday places, it’s expected. While the Tanglewood mom watching scene at Zoli’s is unreal, and listening to their gossip will almost instantly make you feel better about your own life, I’d still avoid those places if you don’t want kids around. I used to go to Roundhouse a lot. Kids often run that place, including throwing rocks at each other and other kids. That’s troublesome, because it makes you wonder why all the people sitting at the tables even had kids. (I get that people need a break.) When it’s just 1 or 2 kids, especially pre-walking babies, I kinda get it and find it endearing. Years ago, I was visiting my friend in Tucson. He had two younger kids at the time. We went out to a pizzeria/brewery with all their couples friends. All the kids f’n trashed this place, including drawing on the bar in permanent marker. All the parents were drunk and the GM was screaming at them. I honestly was unclear how some of these parents were gonna drive the kids home. I think that was 2017. I hadn’t smoked a cig since probably 2011 at that point (wasn’t like a big smoker guy, just hadn’t done it). I went outside and smoked like half a pack I bought a block away, just because the anxiety for these kids I barely knew was intense. So those situations, yea, BAD. One baby crawling around Martin House, I mean logically maybe leave the baby with a grandparent and go have those beers yourselves and discuss how life is going since the baby… but I care about those less as a vague third party.
