He’s deeply closeted and hates basically anyone that doesn’t fit into a specific worldview. Like most guys whose dad was/were rich, he needs to live up to a specific thing, but he can’t, and the easiest way to live up to that specific thing is to join the right tribe. Tarrant happens to the largest county in America that still mostly goes red (Allred did win Tarrant tho), so he has that to hang his hat on. In the meantime, he has “halo effect” that he can talk about anything he wants as an expert. Almost every involved Republican I’ve met, MAGA or rational, f’n hates this guy and wishes he didn’t represent the county. I’ve heard high-up people in county and city call him “unhinged” and “a liability.” But he just keeps on trucking.
