If it’s chips it will be fine, and actually what a lot of places are moving to over just sand. If it has fines in it and it compacts, this is also alright, but will make your life a living hell when trying to level stuff. Sand doesn’t compact, and chips don’t either. You want the product to be able to move a little when you’re laying on it.
