I believe what he is trying to convey is that it is more important for him as god king to assume control of an incompetent Fed than to allow it to have independence. Hey, if the Fed was just doing my bidding without questioning me or going against me in any way at all, of course Id keep it independent. But if they are going to act all independently and not follow my instructions, that means they are incompetent and its time to end their independence. Thats what hes really saying.
