I mean its one thing to be upset that people are buying Chinese goods, which is certainly a narrative. A dumb narrative, but one that is at least logically cohesive. Its different from the claim Trump makes repeatedly; that a trade deficit is losing money. He is saying we lost a trillion dollars, as if we threw it in the toilet, set it on fire, didnt use it for its purpose; to buy something. MAGAs will make up some other narrative about how China is bad and deserves tariffs yada yada but even they are not yet so mentally retarded that they will argue that yes, Trumps understanding of trade makes sense.
