The problem is the realism works too good for movies. Your argument doesnt hold up because the same people who prefer 24fps for movies, like myself, will gladly concede that higher fps is fantastic for things like video games and watching sports. There IS a place for it, but not movies. Personally when I watch a movie in high fps it looks so real that its like Im literally on the set, watching actors flail about on a stage, and all of the post production movie magic has been almost entirely mitigated. It looks like ass.
