That is not necessarily true, especially for social animals, which humans are. Having wise older folks around to help guide younger generations with their experience and wisdom provides evolutionary and survival benefit, especially in the hunter/gatherer age where wisdom and knowledge were held and passed down by village elders and not easily obtained from books or other media etc.
