Similar vein: virtually every true Republican I know has no faith in Bo French or most of the county “leadership.” They know one decent candidate who’s slightly left of center, or slightly right of center but believes 1-2 liberal things, can win here pretty easily.

FUMC downtown, UCC by TCU, and St. Paul’s near I-30 all seem semi-normal. I’ve only attended the first one, but I know a lot of people at the other two. They seem right-leaning but not MAGA-y, and the pastors stay out of the mud.

Probably hyperbolic. I’ve just not often seen major cities let churches decide their own zoning because of threatening lawsuits. They don’t have the power of the big-name families or a guy like Mike Berry or Dee Kelly Jr., but they have more power than elected officials — and that showed last month.

I do not disagree that we are 29 out of 30. I think that was my main point. That’s been reported in about six places. I think maybe the chart (from Fort Worth Report in 2023) is a little off, and I apologize for that.
