Similar vein: virtually every true Republican I know has no faith in Bo French or most of the county “leadership.” They know one decent candidate who’s slightly left of center, or slightly right of center but believes 1-2 liberal things, can win here pretty easily.

Most people “on the scene” (in politics or who get invited to specific gatherings) I know have told me what happened is that O’Hare saw 2025 results and how the City Council became almost majority liberal and how certain “endorsements” flopped (think Chesire for TCC), and he wants out. He’s going to try and become the AG of Texas, either by initial appointment as Paxton runs and then a race. It seems like most people think this is his plan. (It could be entirely wrong, too.) In that case, this gerrymandering process is his attempt at a Tarrant Co. “legacy” because as he exits to Austin/state role, he “ensures Tarrant stays red.” It seems like that is the play. Again, could be wrong here. That’s just what people who know the thinking of guys like Dee Kelly Jr. better than I do have told me. (Power brokers.)
