as someone who has talked circled around idiots my entire life, just to enrage them with reminders that they have very little power over me beyond their usual physical advantages its been difficult to keep quiet but ive let go of that side of myself. now, if someone has threated my safety and/or risked my life (i spend a lot of time on a bicycle) they are entitled to the full force of my charm.

just to play devils advocate here i grab short videos from almost all the shows i mix; one minute or so near the tail end of the headliner. (mix is typically dialed by then) the last three or so iterations of iphone i have owned have captured not only quality video, but quality, accurate audio of the mix. the biggest differences in how mixes translate seeming to stem from how full of meat bags the room is or isnt. 450 cap room. booth is about 30 feet from the house right hang. i also have a video from a festival my band played about five years ago. i go back to it from time to time because im astounded by how good the mix comes across on a smartphone-shot video. that one was on a trailer stage with a deployment of unknown make in a rural town with no proper production houses within 75 miles. far less than ideal. still sounded great. there are plenty of factors at play, but to simply write off smartphone video recordings as unrepresentative of live mixes is pretty bold. the tech is quite advanced now.
