In my view, it is the lack of compromise that has led us to where we are today. Clinton and Obama had their flaws, but both were objectively miles away better than Trump and George W Bush. Theres a much greater enemy to defeat in the here and now. Taking on centrists can come later on down the line, perhaps once republicans have regained their sanity and risking the election of one doesnt mean systematic oppression of anyone who isnt a cis white male.

That person would never win the democratic primary, so its a moot point. But for entertainment purposes, lets say they did, hypothetically. I think at that point, they are too similar and lack any meaningful difference. For all intents and purposes, they hold the exact same values, the exact same policy positions, at that point a 1% difference has no real meaningful impact. But vote Blue works off the assumption that the democratic primary is going to choose some democratic candidate with at least some progressive values, which will objectively make them a better candidate than Trump or anyone else in the GOP if you hold leftist views. That candidate may be Newsom, Harris, Waltz, Michelle Obama, AOC, Jeffries, Buttigieg etc. All these candidates have flaws. Some more than others. But at the end of the day, every single one would be miles better than what we are getting now. What Vote Blue is about, is acknowledging that whosoever the democrat voters end up choosing in the primary, we need to band together and win it in the general election. By all means, make your case in the primary, and fight for who you think is best. But if they lose, they lose. You try again next time but you dont sit on your hands, unless you truly believe that their flaw, like Newsom thinking trans athletes shouldnt be in normal sports, is the same or worse as everything Trump and GOP is doing to this country and her people right now.

And far left liberals shouldnt do the same if a centrist wins?

When the opposition are fascists kidnapping people off the streets and sending them to foreign torture prisons with zero convictions, it is the only reasonable position to take. When republicans regain their spines and their sanity, Ill gladly drop the mantra.

The point is that both moderates and those further left need to be prepared to compromise. If either decides to sit out the general because they are unhappy with who won, we all lose much more than if we had just banded together.

That is a good idea, no one is saying it isnt. But depending on who voters select in the primary, we might end up with a candidate who personally doesnt think trans people belong in sports. It sucks, but its still better than the fascist alternatives.

Simple question: if a far left candidate wins the primary, should moderates refuse to vote for that candidate? Why or why not?

And do tell, who is the leader of this alleged cult?

And maybe moderates should refuse to vote for anyone left of Newsom. That strategy will surely work out.

Not once have I advocated for not voting for dems if they’re not left enough, Then look around, because thats what many on the left are doing. Thats what this OP post is about. Thats what many of the comments here are about. Thats what my original comment, is about. If you are in agreement, you have a very antagonistic way of going about it. But to deny that there are leftists who refuse to vote for moderate candidates is to deny the very reality that is plainly in front of you. Do the candidates shoulder some of the blame? Sure, of course. But to treat it as so black and white and not recognize that the leftists who refuse to vote for anything other than the Perfect Leftist Candidate also hurts us, is whats truly naive.
