Honestly Id encourage Shroud for sure. Then go deep with CoT and/or check out Cage of Souls.

Id say that Cage of Souls is much more similar to Alien Clay than Shroud, which imo is hardly similar to AC.

I hope they print an actual analog copy, I’d buy it without a doubt. I’ll likely still get it electronically if I have to but would way prefer to have it on the shelf next to my copies of the books. Stoked for it either way.

Like I said I have yet to read Dogs so unsure what the stage is prior to Bear Head, Mexico isn’t specifically mentioned in BH as far as I recall. I don’t know if the timelines match up but with enough time between SP and Dogs they could have figured out the environmental collapse, if indeed the same world. I don’t expect it’s the same universe but there were definitely commonalities which made me question it. I do know AT quite often runs similar situations so similar characteristics, science and politics makes total sense. I actually wrote him an email asking about it. If he responds I’ll post it.

I haven’t read it yet, I’ve been tearing my through his sci-fi catalogue. I borrowed it from the library a few months ago and put it down after 3 or 4 chapters, not yet being ready for his fantasy realm. I’m unsure why it didn’t grab me, I think the other books I had on deck were more enticing at the time. I’ll give it another go one day soon.

I appreciate your articulation there, I couldn’t quite place it after closing the book. In light of what’s happening here in the states it’s very relevant and we are approaching the need for rev 2.0. I almost made a comment yesterday to a political post calling for the need and held back.

I’m an old school analogue die hard but e-books are starting to grow on me tbh. The fact they can be borrowed and returned without leaving where I’m at is so damn convenient. Plus the fact that I can find them available to borrow (sometimes) immediately with no wait times is rad, and if I need to travel I’ve got a library at my fingertips, very convenient. I definitely am no fan of audiobooks, they don’t register in my memory, but e-books are kinda nice.

I’m not sure tbh, I don’t think so. I much prefer analog and have been going hard all year with my library. The good thing for me about Ogres, it was available immediately while I was waiting for my other books in queue. I think it’s going to be published soon along with three other novellas, I saw something posted here a few weeks ago.

I’m in the middle of ER (started yesterday and will finish today) and it’s so well written, I’m floored by AT’s mind and style. One of my favorites thus far.

It’s available on Libby (app) as an e-book. Libby is rad, it’s free and if you already have a library card that’s all you need. Otherwise I think you can sign up for free to use it. I’m reading Elder Race right now (analog) and it’s one of my absolute favorites AT ever, it’s also so damn good. That guy can write!
