No, thats still incorrect. They knew they were lying from the start. Everything they do and say is in bad faith, and they know they are lying to spread propaganda. Theyre convinced that playing this game this way is righteous and how they will consolidate power for the right, and its working great.

Whats sad is this is a pretty normal phenomenon at this point. Happened many times during Trump 1st term; Trump does something very stupid/indefensible, conservative sub panics for a day, dissent is apparent but being frantically managed by the mods, and by the next day new talking points are rolled out, everyone falls in line, and its back to memes and trashing the left.

Exactly this. Signing over the minerals would just make Trumps scam even easier and more profitable. He would have feigned support for a short time until he found some other reason, or some other resource to extort Ukraine for. Trump couldnt possibly be any more transparently in the tank for Putin and adversarial to all of our allies. Any who capitulate to Trump are just showing him they are easy targets in the future when he decides he wants more, and he will.
