Look at the finer details. Male mosquitoes have plumed antennae, yours does not. Google isn’t your friend. Go to bugguide or inaturalist.

This isnt a mosquito, but a midge. Legs are too skinny, antennae too short, and wings are completely different as another person said.

Smells like waffles to me. But it’s the aroma of metalwork at one of the metal fab shops. The smell is made from the cutting fluid being vaporized when cutting the metal.
