When you say 10x, are we talking 100 views vs 1000?

  • u/JC_Everyman

I deleted about 5 things I want to say. Fare the well, all you fellow broadcasters. Our licenses may be going the way of the Ham radio.

    TRUTH

Clock is ticking for license holders. Their user base is 65+ ( Not counting live sports, also available on streaming). Broadcast stations aren’t even in consideration from a manufacturers perspective. Just look at a remote control for a new TV.

As long as sales people control all decision-making in broadcast they will double down.

  • u/JC_Everyman

Ultimately, the audience is now 90% 65+. The ownership groups seem resigned to this fact. They haven’t bothered to tell news dept or marketing. Sales knows.

  • u/JC_Everyman

Play ball and keep your license to print money. This is why there were rules against concentrated ownership. Woe to the Republic.

  • u/JC_Everyman

You only do wire stories and weather? Sad. . .

  • u/JC_Everyman

The fact that tik tok for marketing was missed by most station management is another example of why the audience is 90% P65+. I don’t think a single MARKETER works in any TV station marketing dept; just a bunch of people that make commercials reminding old people to keep watching TV.
