I imagine they would….maybe… I’m no neuroscientist, but from my understanding, our brains haven’t had time to adjust to technology on a subconscious level. I ONLY say this because it’s one of the ways you can train yourself to start lucid dreaming, and I would imagine that dreaming and hallucinations probably have ties to the same parts of the brain (again, talking out of my ass). You can’t turn lights on and off in your dreams. At least, not in the way they work in the real world. You can’t go to the wall and flick a switch to turn the lights off in a room. You can use this to verify if you are dreaming. If you can remember, next time you’re having a crazy dream, go to the wall and turn the lights off. Then realize you’re dreaming and go fly out your window to to the Bahamas and enjoy a Mai Tai on me.

That’s is interesting! I can clearly remember flying spaceships and driving like race cars and stuff (I was a little boy at one time, and I can’t say I’ve exactly grown up yet, lol), but now that you mentioned it, I don’t think I ever actually controlled them. It would be like a zoomed out video game view. And you could be on to something about the clock not being stressful or jarring. I made a comment to someone else that I can only recognize I’m dreaming when it’s nightmares, but I think that’s because I was a young impressionable kid and believed my parents when they said that my dreams weren’t real and couldn’t hurt me. I learned as a child I could wake myself up from nightmares, and I think I just got a shoe in to the lucid dreaming stuff. It is very rare now for me to do it. Probably been a few years since I noticed I was in a dream. But I don’t really have outlandish nightmares any more like I did as a kid with monsters chasing me or whatever.

I’ve been able to recognize and kinda control my dreams my whole life. Not all the time, not even very often, but when I do it’s always nightmares I can control, because that’s what tells me it’s a dream. I used to have a lot of nightmares as a kid, usually like giants trying to get me, or other crazy shit. My parents would tell me they weren’t real, and my dreams couldn’t hurt me. And I started to believe them, and then started to tell myself that when I did have nightmares. I used to just make myself wake up, and still do a lot of the time, it’s kinda creepy in dreams when you’re not just going along with them. If I do stay asleep I usually forget that I’m dreaming after a short time, but it’s usually by then I’m flying a spaceship or just like walking in the woods, and it’s dreamy type stuff anyways.
