I also think it will come out that shes not as governed by a code as it first appears. It gives Dexters dad a typical told you so moment and will put Dexter in yet another predicament where he has to make a choice between following his code or letting his personal attachment get in the way.

Hey, I also found this scene very suss and want to talk about it. Lowell had already accepted he was going to die, and was really chill about it. Totally accepted it. Then, when Dexter reveals hes not red, but the BHB, Lowell suddenly panics. His final words are youyou Dexter pays it no mind. Im sure most of the audience didnt either. But to me, it looked like he had something important to say before he died. Im guessing the BHB is special and held in a different regard to the group, and this was some foreshadowing. Maybe theres a personal vendetta? BHB butcher killed someone related to or close to the group? Or maybe the BHB is like the White Whale Prater has been after, believing he still lives and is one of the most prolific serial killers of them all.

I just want to point out that slice of life is a common and benign phrase that most would not associate with murder or violence. With Dexter it takes on an ironic double meaning but it wouldnt in itself be suss.

They took an idea that on paper sounds ridiculous and over the top (really, a gathering/conference of serial killers?), and yet gave it enough depth and character charm that it executes in a believable way. So far. The idea of Dexter taking on multiple serial killers at once is intriguing. Each could serve as a typical season big bad if properly fleshed out. Its like a rogues gallery for Dexter.

Ill admit, its a lot of maybes when you are dealing with life or death. Dexter has no idea how they might react if they find out hes assumed Reds identity under false pretenses. Prater is rich and has lots of resources. It wouldnt surprise me if he already likely knows Dexter isnt Red. I mean cmon, they broke into his home, saw his trophies, got his fingerprints etc. They really have no clue what he looks like? And Dexters face was on the news, in relation to one of the many serial killers Prater is obsessed with. Its not a stretch that Prater could easily make the connection and figure out hes Dexter Morgan. And at that point he will either think Dexter is working undercover for the police, or he might even be smart enough to connect more dots and figure out hes the real BHB.

It will be Praters father. And Prater aims to carry on the legacy. Very Dexter-esque to have the villain story mirror Dexters own to some degree. Prater, son of a notorious serial killer, aim to be just like him and perhaps learned from him/ worked as his accomplice at some point.

I feel like there was more to this scene. Lowell clearly is trying to tell Dexter something before he dies. I think well find out soon that the BHB is of special importance to the group/Prater for some reason.
