Its super corny. Theyre trying to do that quirky/maverick, borderline autistic/savant aspect to her and I do think it comes across corny. Her and Batista working together is bad news though.

At best, he is a very prolific vigilante. One who makes mistakes, and gets innocent people around him killed. But beyond that, he is a serial killer first and foremost. He kills bad guys because he was trained to from an early age, but if he had been left to his own devices, his urge to kill is not discriminatory. Hed be killing innocents, because ultimately its not about serving justice, its about the fact he enjoys seeing the life leave someones eyes. So is he a good guy? I think the answer has to be no. Still, hes better than most who wind up on his table, thanks to his code and personal principles he has developed over time. At the end of the day, his actions have also saved a lot of lives. But saving lives does not give someone the right or moral currency to murder.

Heres my prediction. Batista is going to end up in a situation that makes us all think here it comes, Batistas inevitable death, probably not at Dexters hands but somehow getting entangled with the other serial killers, or Harrison. But then out of nowhere Masuka and Quinn show up and bail Batista out, and we learn that Batista did loop them in off screen just beforehand to fake out the audience. Batista survives, and now Masuka and Quinn are aware of Dexter as the BHB. The season ends with Dexter leaving New York, on the run, amidst the start of a nationwide manhunt for him.

I would agree. I thought NB overall was a good season, and now knowing thats not the end of Dexters story, that alleviates most of the disappointment.

Remember at the time, we didnt know Resurrection would be a thing. As far as we knew, this was the true end to Dexters story. It was totally underwhelming, and for me it was VERY disappointing that they spent time setting up a confrontation between Dexter and Batista only for it to not pay off whatsoever.

I do think we will learn shes not as much like Dexter as they want us to think. Its a common theme in the show that other killers are nothing like Dexter and hes a one of a kind, because of his dad and his trademarked Code. Lumen is the only other one I can think of that was shown to be truly similar, but she was out for personal vengeance and once she accomplished her goal, she resumed a normal life, at least as far as I recall. LV probably was setting Red up, and might have tried to kill Dexter had he got in the shower. Guess well see as we learn more about her, but I fully expect shes not a pure vigilante.

Dude those years following the finale sucked so bad. Initially I was convinced theyd do a revival. But year after year after year, not a single peep, and whenever MCH was asked about returning to Dexter hed basically say he was done with the character and wanted to move on to new things. After so much time I finally accepted that the S8 finale was truly the end and ugh. And then out of nowhere, after so much time, they finally came back. Blew me away.

I got the same vibe too, but I will also say that I dont believe theyd bring Masuka and Quinn back for just a brief cameo. I think at some point they are gonna get involved too. Especially Quinn. However I think Masuka might be the one capable of doing the most verbal damage to Dexter. Hes always had a way with words, but finding out Dexter is the BHB and confronting him face to face might end up being a crazy emotional scene, one where Dexters usual bullshit excuses wont have the slightest effect on Masukas disappointment.
