There has to be more to this though. Because even if Dexter successfully gets into the vault and takes his slides, wouldnt it still be really suspicious to Prater that just the slides just sort of went missing? Dexter wouldnt do this until he was found out, or otherwise ready to cut all ties to Prater completely and willing to reveal to Prater that hes the BHB. So something is going to happen that triggers Dexter making a last stop on his way out to collect what belongs to him, but I wonder if that means Prater is dead, or is after Dexter at that point, or if Dexter just doesnt care if Prater is alerted to the fact that the BHB just snuck in and took his slides back. But maybe Dexter sets the whole place on fire and destroys everything to hide the fact the slides were the goal. Who knows?

I think we are just seeing Dexter getting into the zone, hitting his prime as a serial killer. I think its setting up The Ripper as the next big bad but wont happen until season 2. This season is all about Dexter getting settled into New York, dominating a group of sub-par serial killers with his experience and skills, while re-connecting with his son, evading Batista, and dealing with Claudette who appears to be the wild card of the season. The season finale will likely be dealing with the fallout of Batistas hunt, Claudettes hunt, and whatever ultimately happens with Prater. I think Prater will become an ally of sorts. I also think its possible that Claudettes obsession with the Ripper is going to lead her to seek Dexters help in catching him, even if she ends up believing Dexter is the Butcher by end of season. I think they are setting up her obsession as clouding her judgement for a reason; shes more interested in solving the Ripper case even if it means working with another killer to do it.

But think about it, Prater would believe that eventually the BHB would infiltrate the group at some point to prey on them. Im sure initially they thought Red would be joining the group. But I also think Prater knew that the tell would be when the group members suddenly start disappearing. And again I also think Prater is aware Dexter is not Red. Dexter Morgan doesnt exactly have a low profile. Hes been in the news as a victim impacted by the trinity killer. Hes got a mugshot from being arrested. Its very possible that Prater not only knows he isnt Red, but knows his real identity is Dexter Morgan. And from there, knowing that he used to work with Miami Metro, alongside the suspected BHB? It becomes so easy to connect the dots, for someone like Prater.

Its definitely possible that Prater has no idea that the BHB still lives. But, theres tons of ways they could introduce the idea that Prater has believed otherwise. He has lots of connections, he could be in possession of intimate knowledge of the BHB case and have the same doubts that Doakes was the true killer as did others familiar with it. Hell, he could even be directly connected to people involved in Dexters past we just havent learned about yet. I dont think its a stretch that Prater could have reasons to believe it that just havent been revealed to us yet.

My thoughts too, very gimmicky cliche personality. Like a too on-the-nose interpretation of the slightly autistic/savant archetype.

Resurrection is so good its hard to believe. Heres hoping they stick the landing all the way to the end.

Im loving this season but I have to say, Al MUST feel like the biggest dumbass of all time when hes on that table. Like you mean to tell me the fucking new guy shows up and suddenly everyone starts disappearing and I just bought his act even when I was the last killer of the pre-red group remaining??? Like how can he even feign being surprised at that point. Im really hoping they address this and Al just beats himself up because OF COURSE Red has been killing everyone.

I just dont understand why Batista is behaving like this, it does come across as purposefully written to be extra incompetent as to not be too inconvenient to Dexter. Him choosing not to tell Quinn and Masuka whats going on is crazy. And him trying to pass himself off as active law enforcement is crazy. Him trying to convince the nypd with nothing but plastic wrap for evidence, is crazy. I know theres already jokes about Batista not being the best detective in the world, but even Miami Metro Batista wouldnt be this incompetent. They really set up Batista as being a major showdown character for Dexter to confront and hes literally self-sabotaging without Dexter having to do any of the leg work himself lmao. Still, Im sure Batista will keep persisting and he will sooner or later catch Dexter off guard and have a real confrontation, but jeez.

I will say if theres one thing that has disappointed me with this season, it is the complete underutilization of Uma Thurman. Like guys, you got Uma Thurman into your season. Pulp Fiction? Kill Bill? Why does she just stand in the corner menacingly for 20 seconds, in some episodes? Really hoping they do her some solid scenes in these last 2 eps.

Man, this show was way better than I had expected it to be. What a shame.
