    Interestingly, a lot of the herbs mentioned were not indigenous to the U.S., but were inadvertently brought over by the colonists on their shoes and clothing. Native Americans learned to use some of those plants for medicine. If you are ever in Washington D.C. visit the National Arboretum, National herb garden. They have many herbs that the colonists used medicinally and industrially.
