Boaters have the whole damn lake. You want to fish by a pier, get out of the boat.

Oh, and make sure you have gloves if you do end up getting a catfish on your hook. They have barbs that can stick you.

I would start out with bobbers, it makes it easy to see when you’re getting a bite. I’m a Hoosier as well but never fished White River, so good luck! If you don’t use a bobber, you can just let it sit on the bottom, you might get a catfish or a carp! Or maybe anything else that decides to go down there. Worms are good, you can also try wax worms (my personal fav) or you can get special catfish bait they sell in the store near the fishing stuff. Even walmart carries it.
