In reality, contingency ensures that no PI attorney will actually take your case to trial. They would rather take the settlement money than take a risk of not getting anything, even if your case deserves more than the settlement.

In reality, it’s super competitive to sign a client. They’ll tell you you have a great case, but once you sign, they will give you reasons why you should not go to court: “juries in this county hate greedy plaintiffs. . . This county hasn’t awarded a big judgement in over a decade. . The jury could decide you were 51% liable and you’ll (“we’ll”) get nothing!”
