I’m pretty sure I said it wasn’t the same thing. What I didn’t say was they should add it to a lime render. I said they should add it to type N, if they absolutely had to use type N, because if all you have is one option, it would be better to make that option better. Then, I told them where they should go, with people that can answer thier questions about using the correct products.

If it’s literally the only option, and you HAVE to do it just use the type N from Menards. You can add a plasticizer, (they call it Concrete Bonding Agent, which again, isn’t really the same thing as what you want, but works in a pinch) which will help keep it a bit more elastic. Do a Google search for County Materials. I’d be willing to bet if you have Menards near you, there is probably a County Materials as well. They can get you the good stuff.

You probably don’t want/need to do anything. Anything you do is just going to crack again anyways. If you want it right (there is no point to doing this) you’d actually want to open the crack even more and put expansion joint in there. The stoop and pad will always move differently. This will crack again every spring if you use anything hard. You could clean it out and use polymeric sand (the stuff for patio joints) to fill it in if it really bothers you. That would stay in the crack and remain flexible, or use a caulk for concrete repair as the other guy recommended.

Good luck….. If there’s a pad that’s different, but I’m still gonna wish you luck on this. It’s not going to be easy if you don’t even know what products are correct and you won’t listen when people tell you it’s wrong.

Yeah, that’s gonna be a no. Unless of course, you’re willing to take the fireplace and floor out and install angle iron to support the weight.

You have got to be kidding….

Can you use them? You purchased the wrong product.

There isn’t enough mortar between the head joints either. This is not ok. At all.

Despite the fact you’ll never get it off if you don’t want the there, concrete doesn’t bond to concrete, and that includes block. Those bits that are faked in there with the 8s; not cool. Not ok. They’re likely not even saving money, because they had to pay someone to cut them which would invalidate the few cents saved on the smaller blocks. This is a shit show. And it’s what someone is going to build thier hopes, dreams, and life on. Not ok. At all.

This horseshit is one of the most up voted posts I’ve seen in this sub. Why the fuck are people up voting this garbage?
