Way more time then this person will have with no footer. Just crushed gravel tammped down is gonna give you years over doing it in the dirt with 4″s.

You’re gonna get people telling you you need a footer under this, which you do. And you’ll need to mortar them together, those are not landscaping blocks. That said, I would just build them using half bond, and not glue anything if you’re not going to go the whole nine yards and do it right. It will sink. It will fall over at some point. Taking this as a give-in, make it as re-usable as possible and make it so you can just fix it easily when it fails. Because it will fail. This is not a knock on you. It would fail if I built it, or anyone looking at built it.

Lmao. This is how most of these types of wall look. They did a good job with it. None of that interior stuff is black or washed out.

It’s fine.

Don’t do it if you value not having the wall crumble.

I probably don’t even need to look at the link. No, what was done to this house was not tuck pointing. It’s just called pointing. Tuck pointing is faking a smaller joint, or using two different colors to fake a smaller joint or for aesthetics.

There is nothing that will match it perfectly. Even if you have a cube of the originals sitting in your garage. Should be able to get a somewhat decent match though.
