Roughly 40% of American retirees rely solely on Social Security for income. In a way that is “good news”. I’ve seen headlines that the average American only has $60K saved for retirement and many have nothing saved at all.

If a new disaster happens, I will watch the coverage a little longer and go through some repetition of the facts, just not forever. Once I see they have no more new facts to report I’ll get off that train.

I had a temper when I was younger. I adopted the topic of leaving the situation until I could calm down and have a productive conversation. I thought it was a great idea. I still do. However, nobody will give you kudos for it, even if you explain it to them. All they will know is that you left the conversation before they wanted you to. Still, the damage from that is FAR less than the damage of saying/doing things you can’t take back. Stick to your guns with that habit.

“Anticipatory Grief” there are some books and articles about it. My stepmother just turned 90. My sister has a serious illness. Both will be hard losses. When they go I am the last person standing.

You can, but you shouldnt expect it to go well … with fans on Reddit. You are 100% correct. All of my life with friends and relatives I have been able to have fun picking apart a show we like. It is fun and there is no hostility.
