The MMR vaccines the article discusses are not new. There is no new health advice. It is the same health advice that has been around for a lifetime, get vaccinated if you aren’t, if you aren’t sure go to a doctor. I got a booster shot 10 years ago and everything back then is as the same in the article.

The new measles epidemic has regularly been in the news. I was curious if I needed an MMR booster shot, so I used Duck Duck Go ( a privacy orientated web search site ) to search on “Should I get a measles booster shot”.

It is possible to enjoy a show so much that it is fun to point out its flaws. That is something many people in TV subs literally don’t understand.

About 10 – 20 years from now adults will be making the same comment you have, but instead of alcoholic parents it will be about conspiracy theory parents, antivaxx parents, and maga parents. Ssome American children have already died recently from the measles, because their parents were stupid or deluded.

That absolutely happens. At work I get people explaining things to me all of the time like I am an idiot. I know those people well. I know it is about people being rushed and multitasking, as well as trying to be helpful so I let go of my instant reactions. I think many women with weak egos just jump straight to the “mansplain” mantra without considering the situation. People often don’t know what your level of knowledge is. The women who throw “mansplain” around have low self esteem, such that their egos get bruised easily when a well meaning person mistakenly thinks they don’t know something.

Buddhism at its core is about letting go of things, but many people in those subs will lose their marbles if you simply state that you don’t share a belief with them. They are Redittors first, and Buddhists second, if at all. I’ve followed the posting history of some of the more popular posters in those subs. I was shocked to find racist content, right wing content, and conspiracy theories from very “pious” sounding “Buddhist” posters.
