I used to moderate one of the minor cat picture subs. It had those problems too, but I managed to use automderator to remove 98% of it. The head mod was one of those people with dozens of subs who ignored them, so I was able to get away with doing that. Once in a blue moon the head mod came there and liked the spam being gone. My guess is that those other cat picture subs have head mods with dozens of subs who just don’t care.

I’m trying to avoid thinking about when Trump’s tariffs hit and drive up prices even higher. It has been how many years since he got into politics in 2016? It is pointless to lament about trump voters being dumb. Our next hope is to survive to the midterms.

/r/WorldNews eventually had it’s many moderators go inactive. All but one. S/he was some weirdo who didn’t believe in any moderation, at all. Eventually spammers and porn posters moved in, their spam and porn was not removed, and people there for world news left. A bunch of world news fans tried to get Reddit to do something about it, but were ignored. For years. In protest the world news fans took over /r/anime_titties and decided to start posting world news there. /r/anime_titties became a world news sub. Somehow, a few years back Reddit eventually listened -OR- that group gained control of /r/WorldNews somehow and turned it back into world news subreddit.

/r/zen Buddhism is divided into 3 schools Theravada – oldest surviving school Mahayana – largest school Vajrayana – often mistakenly called “Tibetan Buddhism”, the Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of one of the sects of this school Zen Buddhism, the full name, is part of the Mahayana school. The moderators of /r/zen claim that “zen” is not part of Buddhism, and is not “Zen Buddhism”. I asked them about it a few years ago and they gave me quite the lengthy explanation in that regard despite the world saying otherwise. This situation has been the case for decades – only use Reddit as an invitation to do further research.

For those of you reading this who are working, plan for your retirement. Itll come sooner than you think and you will love it. I hope it turns out that way for me too. I’ve been working at it for a long time. My retirement accounts recently went down, sharply, due to trump’s tariff bs. I’ve heard that the republican congress is trying to destroy social security too. It sucks to save hard only to have some vindictive moron knock it over. Hopefully by the time I am ready my accounts will have recovered. I keep reading that the average American only has $60,000 for retirement savings if they have any retirement savings at all. Given that social security has been weak and is now being attacked I think many Americans will be working until they die.
