where do I even start when it comes to finding self worth beyond appearance? Find a vital absorbing interest that has nothing to do with your looks. Better yet, something that doesn’t depend on your health either. Reading, even fiction, can open your mind up to many new things and many interests. As a bonus, many people find reading relaxing. Many people read in bed before going to bed to help themselves unwind. Book clubs, conversations about the books. I fear my husband will leave me for someone younger and more attractive Your kids are also your husband’s kids. Work out a deal with him to watch the kids for a few hours a week while you go to the gym.

/u/xmadjesterx I’ve just gone with “ripping the band-aid off” in recent years. I ignore messages, and do my own thing when I happen to be where others are. If anyone asks; I’m honest. I don’t want to hang out around you anymore. That’s it. You want an explanation? The explanation is that I dont want to hang out with you anymore. I owe nothing else to them How did that work out for you? What kind of “side effects” did you get? Do you live in an area or work in a field where you will be running into your friends?

Using reverse psychology to convince /u/Lazy-Candidate-8 to do a slow fade?

Agreed, sounds like a recipe for a less pleasant life. Especially if it is a small town or another situation where you would run into each other.

Have you done that in a situation similar to OP’s. How did it turn out?

/u/Lazy-Candidate-8 Someone is always asking me for something. Most people will get the hint or stop asking out of frustration if you always have a generic excuse. Also works with real excuses, you can make plans to do new activities with new people. If it is an activity you don’t like, just say that you aren’t into doing that anymore.

Is this how Andrew Tate taught you to talk about the women in your life? lol

If they didn’t accept you for who you are, then they stopped being your friend. Not your fault. NTA.
