I got the feeling during his interview that he was being less than honest about who he was. Your quotes confirm that.

I’d like to say “no”, but I do. Even moreso for their cars. Not so much how clean it is, but if they have loads of clutter in it like trash. That is kind of easy to remove.

To his credit, I got that idea from Stephen Covey in his book “Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People”. It seems to me that refusing to accept that you have to do things when you don’t feel like them doing them keeps the self-help industry alive. Each new book offer the hope that there is a trick, a way around that.

Don’t give up on therapy after seeing only one therapist. One therapist with equal education and experience my help you whereas another might not help at all. Research has actually shown this. Who the therapist and client are as people matters to the success of therapy.

Are you the same person as /u/Amazing-Band4729 ? A job with a toxic boss and depending on praise/achievements at work can certainly set you up to see life as nothing but pain. You are doing the right thing by looking for another job. A new job will make a dramatic difference. You might want to consider therapy for reducing your habit of basing your self worth on your job. Yes, I know it is easier said than done. Procrastination and lack of discipline is about avoidance. You need to discover what you are avoiding and work that out. Perhaps a therapist can help you find what you are avoiding and suggest ways to face it. Take one thing at a time, get set up in it well, then move on to the next thing. You did the smart thing by starting a job search first.

/u/PurpleCrayonDreams Reddit is negative enough without me pounding down too. I’ll just write that life will get harder from this point out. You have to be ready for it. Go on a spiritual journey, read the great minds, read self help, get therapy, etc. Keep on trying things that will make you more resilient. Perhaps if you tell us some of the things you are having trouble with we can make suggestions if you are open to problem solving instead of just needing to vent. Good luck brother/sister.
