The term “Baby Boomer” was coined by demographers, not entertainment “journalists” to refer to any American born between 1946 – 1964. That is a very diverse group of people from all walks of life. You can’t rationally make generalizations about a group that diverse. Redditors know this and understand this. However, redditors like to vilify people and dog pile on people for their entertainment. So instead of blaming the 1% where blame is due, they engage in bigotry with all of the anti-Boomer bullshit. Ageism is an ironic form of bigotry. Nobody is going to change from being a Caucasian person to a POC. However, given some luck most people will become old. All the shit they talk about older people will eventually become beliefs they have about themselves that they will suffer from until they get over those ageist beliefs. If they can. Dog piling on generations for entertainment is not only immature, in this context it also retarded.

but because he made me feel that Im forever tethered to the dysfunction I grew up in I had dysfunctional parents too, though in a different way. Your ex was mature beyond his years in realizing the family of a potential spouse matters. However, there are loads of people who don’t care at all about who the inlaws will be. Your ex was honest about it and did NOT tell you that you were less of a person. The ball is in your court to forget the slight you feel and find people who don’t care what your parents are like. Remind yourself that you can’t control where you came from. You can control where what you try to make yourself a better person and you are already doing that

You are mixing Reddit and Discord jargon. :-). Regarding Reddit, /r/amiugly is not reliable for honest opinions. As elsewhere in Reddit people are intentionally mean for no other reason than they can be. Ninety percent of the time I have gone there I have seen normal looking people, just with unhappy looks on their faces.
