Hey I was looking at my cuttings and realize that their tops are already calloused (see post pic) from the original cuttings I took 8 weeks ago. Would it be okay to plant the 8 week calloused cutting side now rather than wait for the fresh cut to callous?

Hell yeah! Thats awesome to hear. I started a nonprofit helping justice involved juveniles this year. Last year work for a nonprofit that helps the formerly incarcerated get back into the workforce, so I know a bit about the system. Keep up the good work brother.

Man thats a hella story, pretty funny. So was your proper carbon steel (expensive) or more mall ninja set? Likely mall ninja as that how most sets are sold. All mine were bought separately and while they look close theyre different manufacturers. Good you got your life together!

In theory yes, although Ive never used a blade in a fight I train as such. Ive studied the black panther system in Bando which incorporates staff and blades as well as Escrima, dual sticks which the strikes are translated to blade cuts. So yes I test my muscle memory while cutting cacti. Its been really fun to do. Until I started using it for the Wachuma Id never needed to sharpen or clean the blade, it pretty much stayed on my wall unless I was cutting air. Now its more a tool.

My carbon steel Wachumazashi, which I’m stoked to actually be using to cut things. As a martial artist who’s trained with bladed weapons, it’s been a joy propagating while practicing good technique.

Katanas long (3-4ft blade) and designed to be used two-handed and generally outside whereas wakazashi is shorter (1-2ft blade) designed for one-handed to be used indoors.
