Honestly my guess is if you can’t make it through Revelation Space you’re gonna have a rough time with Alien Clay as it’s light on action and range of characters while deeply descriptive of the environment and situation. I’d look into Children of Time and the Final Architecture series, as well as Cage of Souls and Service Model if you’re new to AT.

Yeah I remember that when I read it 30+ years ago. Planning to read again soon.

Clearly this is a repost from the Anarchism sub, of which I do not know the real connection. Also the stamp came out in 2021 so unsure why it’s posted today. Either way I thought it worthy to share here. edit: https://crimethinc.com/2018/01/25/we-will-remember-freedom-why-it-matters-that-ursula-k-le-guin-was-an-anarchist

As far AT’s catalogue make sure to stay away from Bear Head, probably avoid Dogs of War altogether otherwise everything sci-fi by him is gtg. The Expanse, Hyperion, Bobiverse, Murderbot, very few sci-fi I’ve read have sex scenes.

Okay I appreciate the detailed reply, I’m holding off downvoting your comment, disagreement of opinion is valid. Like I said I couldn’t get past the first half, but that we being generous. I couldn’t past the first 20 mins before I noped outta there. It felt lazy, unoriginal and predictable. You’re talking to someone who saw the original two at theaters when they came out, old school. That’s based on love of quality sci-fi and lifetime seeking and enjoying many many great stories, usually novels not as much movies. Series I like quite a lot. Anyway Romulus didn’t strike any chords that made me intrigued, not one. Maybe I’ll push past the beginning one day but again after a lifetime of knowing what I like and feel is good, if they can’t compel me in the first 20 minutes they don’t deserve my attention. To each their own, good hunting.

Romulus was so formulaic and unoriginal I couldn’t get past the first half, it sucks.
