I had a pet H. carolinensis and she was MASSIVE. Big as my hand. She was one of the only pet spoods I was intimidated by. Fast. Big. Territorial of her enclosure. She was awesome.

I put red aquarium sand at the bottom of my last widows enclosure and it just made it that much better. Similar setup as yours, just more color. However I had no clue she had mated and laid a fertile sac about a week after I got her

I used to be extremely arachnophobic and could barely look at pictures of them. Then I found a jumping spider and had no clue my state had them. I kept it(it was cute, what can I say) and had to care for it so researched that. Had to force myself to look at spiders doing so. Met experts and professionals from around the world. Learned more and more over the years and now I am my states spider expert and teach people about spiders, how to ID them, how to get over the fear, correct myths and misinformation, and so much more.

There’s a “V” on the heartline at the front of the abdomen that is indicative of Larinioides sp., so if you see another spider with that V marking, it’s a Larinioides sp. How the other markings are designed, as well as color and how “hairy” the spider is, would tell what species it is. Hairless is almost always L. cornutus. If it is dark grey and black with light colored ornate and almost calligraphy designs, it’s most likely L. scopetarius. If it looks like a mix between the two, such as you have, it would be a Larinioides patagiatus.

Wtf, I voted for this last year and figured it would breeze by and go into production. It’s even been shared in massive arachnid groups on fb and it still isn’t in production??? The heck, people! Go vote because I want this set, dangit!
