No lol. Engine braking is when you let off the gas and the engine slows down your car.

OP is a fucking . Yea that jerk when you slam your car into gear after down shifting is supposed to happen. I swear there is a population of people who have to try to convince other people that doing something wrong is ok just because they cant figure it out themselves

Im happy for your car. Your response to the above comment made it sound like you purposefully didnt rev match to get a quick slow down by jamming into a lower gear. Then calling it braking on your engine didnt help.

Your clutch either is working properly, and you can rip it all you want (staying in gear) or its compromised and is slipping when you rip on it.

I see people saying for you to get help. If you think you need it def do so, but, if this is just a – had a fuck up, now I got nerves, and it seems I cant drive my car moment – youll be fine, and driving manual smoothly will come back in a few weeks. Dont over think it, give it a lil extra gas on take off (little more clutch slip than usual), and rev it out to over 4.5-5k before shifting, and just get back to it. Youll be good.

Bro do not listen to these jabronies. Yes you can downshift without rev matching. You can also hydrate yourself with wine. Doesnt mean you should do something just cus you can. Its not gonna break it today or tomorrow but its putting unnecessary wear on your clutch. Yes, clutch is a wear item, but its also a 2,000 dollar fix. I see people in some of these subs replacing clutches eveey 30k miles and acting like thats normal. They should be lasting over 100k.

lol at someone downvoting us Yea Im with you 100%. Im not a huge fan of engine break and only do it on steep inclines where I want my brakes to not over heat. Otherwise Im on the pads, cheap and easy to replace. Gonna prob just turn it off moving forward

Lmao I feel this in my bones. Picking up groceries the other day – worrying whats worse 10 mins idling or turning it off and restarting it.
