I place the blame on McConnell. He was one of the most powerful figures in Washington. He could have had republican senators vote for impeachment conviction and end Trumps political career. Instead he protected Trump and even still McConnells party hates him and hes retiring as a sad, weak and diminished figure.

You are perfectly illustrating how Republicans use culture war grievances to get people to elect them. Get you so triggered about a certain term you have no choice to vote them in to teach the wokes a lesson. Once in office they crash the economy and pass a massive tax cut that will slash services for working class families, your retirement benefits and destroy the farmers and rural communities. Meanwhile all the people you were told to hate will still exist and the republicans will tell you who to get outraged against next. Rinse and repeat
