I encourage y’all to just go ahead and downvote me now. I have a different opinion. I prefer order of when they unfold in universe https://www.howtoread.me/the-expanse-reading-order/ I’ll add that people encouraging you to wait until then end, I steadfastly and wholeheartedly disagree. That’s how I did it after my first read through and it left me empty and craving better closure. Now I was reading while the books were coming out and I was stoned durning much of it so by the time I read the novellas I had forgotten a lot. They didn’t fit, just didn’t feel right. When I read them the next two times I read them how I suggest and the story unfolded perfectly.

Yep, same. I checked it out when first aired and noped after e1. When I saw the fanbase light up getting Amazon to pick it up I checked out the first book. I think book publication was to about book 6 when I jumped in and seasons were on s3. After reading book one I was hooked on all of it.

No longer a gamer but I did buy an Xbox a few years ago to play RDR2 when I was laid after a surgery for a few weeks. Played it heavily for about 6 months then just stopped, the Xbox has been sitting here unattended for almost two years and I was thinking of selling it. Then I saw the word on this game and now I’m thinking I’m in. Kinda stoked.

This is a good order https://www.theastromech.com/2025/06/a-chronological-guide-to-expanse.html

It’s all the novellas and fill in details about the story as a whole. There’s three common strategies on when to read them 1. Read at the end of book 9 2. Read in order of publication 3. Read at in universe chronological order, which is my preference

Why is this a common trait, complaint, goal on this sub? Are the majority of folks here OCD? I don’t buy my books as display item, they’re books, belong on a shelf and I’ve got zero fucks if they don’t match. I do admit there is a bit of perfectionist trigger that I shake off quickly, I know the brain was designed to recognize patterns. But why is this actually posted about here?
