    I’ve been harvesting figs from one of my neighbor’s for the last 3 weeks, just started dehydrating them because I’ve got too many and they’re ripening faster than I can eat them. They are absolutely ripening as time passes. Not sure if it’s general decomposition (based on your statement) or they’re ripening as per normal with fruits. Either way first hand experience tells me you’re statement is not entirely accurate.

    Squash family, could be cucumber or even melon but it’s all the same family.
