We went from being Ukraines most supportive ally to a literal adversarial extortion racket over the course of a single election, really shows the world what a trustworthy, consistent and reliable nation the US is ffs. I feel really bad for Ukraine just being abused from basically all directions and just trying to exist. Fuck every Trump voter and a special fuck you to everyone who chose not to vote.

Sadly a lot of people are VERY proud of what theyve done here. Belligerently and in-your-face kind of proud. And if things get bad they will be spoonfed who to blame. Partisan and foreign propaganda has done untold damage to us in the US. Hope outsiders take heed and fight back before similar forces succeed in dismantling your democracies as well, as it wont stop here. Apologies from the US, we have a lot of work to do to sort our shit out.

Pretends to care about the rule of law, but supports convicted felon Trump. Immigration is a net benefit to the US but despite that our restrictive immigration policies makes it nearly impossible to permanently immigrate here legally. Acts like these are inhumane and cruel, and reflective of a sick society, ran by a sick administration, and a criminal leader.

You cant explain things like this to conservatives anymore. They only believe Trump. You can give them proper, non-partisan sources that plainly explain how tariffs work. Videos. Books. Etc. it doesnt matter, we are firmly in a post-truth society now and they have been thoroughly brainwashed to believe whatever Trump says, and never trust any source that goes against what he says because those sources are obviously corrupt, have an agenda, are part of the deep state etc.

Its hard to be sure. Trump is very ignorant on many things, but he also is totally willing to feign ignorance to push a narrative. I have a really hard time believing that at this stage in his life and political career, he really doesnt understand trade deficits or how tariffs work. I think rather, he knows many Americans dont understand it, and its just convenient language to use in place of ulterior motives. One thing Trump does understand is the importance of a narrative. If he wants to do X for some shitty, self-serving Z reason, he will give Y reason instead. Y may have nothing to do with X, Y might be a complete made up lie, but he will keep saying Y on repeat, over and over. Fox News will gleefully repeat Y, as will the entire conservative new media apparatus like podcasters and surely Joe Rogan will bring on guests to talk about Y, while he crafts some viral moment where hes just blown away that no one ever thought about Y and why dont the left care about Y and just let Trump do X? You can apply this over and over again to his entire presidency for the next 4 years and possibly beyond.
