Alaska is weird with our colloquializations. I have never heard an Alaskan say “half staff”. We are surrounded by water, after all. We are very maritime focused with a coastline at 6,640 miles long, and when including islands- Alaska’s shoreline is 33,904 miles long. The estimated tidal shoreline, including islands, inlets, and bays, is 47,300 miles long. It’s been half mast everywhere in AK, unless military or when speaking with someone that really cares more about etymology than what this posts core is.

Yea no. Real patriotic Americans will leave them at half mast the full 30 days.
