Few thoughts: 1) Democrats faced massive backlash with just going as far as the ACA. Obama took so much criticism saying people could keep their insurance and that turned out not to be quite true. People HATE our healthcare system but get really weird about it when its their own insurance. 2) Youd have to explain how universal healthcare wont get immediately blocked by our far right supermajority in the Supreme Court.
