( Not to take away from the video ) Summary: To make 1 month of EBT last 2 months: Buy 2 months worth of: dried legumes rice frozen vegetables With the remaining funds buy: oatmeal ( breakfast ) potatoes small bags of onions ( buy 1 bag at a time to avoid spoilage ) olive oil garlic lemon or lime juice – not from concentrate – for vitamin C. Mix a spoon into water for sweet drink cravings tortillas canned tomatoes pepper, salt, cinnamon, cumin, red pepper ( bagged spices are cheaper ) bouillon cubes sugar The author claims that with the above and appropriate recipes, not only will you get fed, but have some variety to keep yourself sane. A curry a week, and some Meso-American food can be made with the ingredients above. The author was wrong about potatoes not having much nutrition. Check out cronometer.com. Dry roasted sunflower seeds are cheap, as well as am amazing source of vitamin E, zinc, and selenium. If I were in that situation I would have found a way to include some in my survival budget. Also, broccoli has a decent amount of vitamin c, so if I couldn’t afford fruit I would have added broccoli into my frozen vegetable selections. The video is really good, please don’t let my summary keep you from watching it.
