I guess it’s $840M right now. That’s higher than they thought it would be. I have only been following it here and there, but it seems like Blaylock and Charlie (one of the ultimate chest-puffer guys) came to a meeting and said, “There’s not enough in here for the north. We’re not gonna vote.” So the city recrunched numbers, and took projects for the north (which admittedly is growing) out of Beck’s district (downtown and surrounding). Beck got pissed. Now there are still squabbles. The biggest thing that surprised me is that Parker constantly talks about Gateway Park as a hub for Ft. Worth. It’s bigger than Central Park in NYC, etc. But most people here who aren’t into mountain biking or who don’t have daughters who play soccer view it as a homeless hub, ya know? We could do a lot there. But right now, I think that part is only at $21M. It was believed at one point to be $55M. I personally like Gateway, but I understand the local criticisms. If you really spruced Gateway into a family-friendly destination, I think that’d be cool for the city and any visitors.
