In my neighborhood a van drops them off in the morning and picks them up at night. Sometimes a pair of them will share a pair of crutches – one uses one crutch and the other uses the other crutch. I think they rely on the fact that people see them only for a minute as they drive by or stop at the light. Very few people see them putting the crutches down and walking around. We have even had a guy that sits in a wheelchair in the middle of the road.
