Many years ago when I trouble with sleep I went to pulmonologist who told me the same thing. He said it isn’t 100% true for everyone, but losing excess fat almost always makes sleep apnea and snoring go away. Every time I have mentioned this on Reddit I have gotten downvoted too. I remember reading an article about someone with diabetes and cardiovascular issues suing their doctor for telling them they needed to lose weight. I’ve talked personally with several doctors who will not talk about behavioral changes as remedies because people will not do them or they will get offended. People come to /r/herbalism in part because they want to solve problems without prescription drugs. Reducing excess fat is natural, no drugs involved, even if it is not a quick fix. Quick fix for snoring: sleep on your side elevate your head with more pillows.
