These are good points, but honestly despite losing, I thought Qui-Gon Jinn had one of the coolest and cleanest looking fighting styles of all the Jedi. Like his movements are so aggressive and confident. The way he backhands Maul off the walkway, and how hes ducking Mauls strikes and striking back relentlessly, and then has one of the most badass Star Wars moments when he calmly meditates between the shield/barriers.  Watching him lose suddenly after all that kinda does feel namby Pamby. It does not help that Maul has barely any dialogue and is not properly developed in the movie at all.
