These sentiments were very commonplace at the time. Hell they might be still now, I dont follow it too much. But when part 2 released you would be hard pressed to find a forum where (a loud minority of) gamers werent enraged and typing poorly written essays filled to the brim with grievances about trans (even though Abby is not trans) and all kinds of hate. Most of it directed to the writers of the game but theres always a non-zero percentage of fans who are too invested and take their anger out on the voice actors etc.
