To my understanding, all this equipment was gifted/sold/decommissioned to the Afghan Army and ANA, and they then dipped out of Afghanistan as the Taliban took control. So I see this as not the US’ doing whatsoever, but a bunch of cowards that had the means to defend themselves decide fleeing and leaving everything there for the enemy was a good idea. The US leaves equipment after nearly every overseas conflict and have done so for decades.
