Yeah, he needs to do some learning, but as a very staunch ally – you guys/gals/whocares need as much support against trumpy as possible. Gavin’s stance is wrong, but he also seems like the kind of guy who is willing to listen and change. You’ll never, ever get that with the orange buffoon or his enablers. Even if you want to look at it through a cynical lens – his team would see support from the trans community and say, “Hey, we can use this support for our own gains.” And that’s definitely better than being eradicated on some sun-downing jackass’ whims.
