Similar vein: virtually every true Republican I know has no faith in Bo French or most of the county “leadership.” They know one decent candidate who’s slightly left of center, or slightly right of center but believes 1-2 liberal things, can win here pretty easily.

I taught 2nd-3rd in HISD years, years ago (Teach for America). It was a Title I, but the school had OK ratings. I think we had a 89 or something from TEA. Anyway, I had 25 students my first year. You could absolutely tell who had involved parents, who had nothing, and who had parents that tried but society/wages was just crushing them against the rocks.

I don’t get to Southlake much (#blessed). Flower Mound I worked there for a bit, but just went an office and sometimes some happy hours. Trophy Club I know nothing about. I am pretty good on inner loop, tho. Couple of years ago, I was meeting my buddy at Roundhouse (near TCU/Apple Store) at noon. It was a Friday. The lot was FULL of cars, but there were just five people in the place. So I asked the bartender, “What gives?” She tells me they had a Tanglewood Dads event the night before, 3/4 of them were shitfaced, some tried to drive home and realized they couldn’t (PS Tanglewood is maybe 1.2 miles from Roundhouse, not that I’m promoting drunk driving), so a lot of them just piled into various Ubers. No one had come back for their cars. We were there about an hour, hour and a half. Gradually some guys in Colonial vests started filing in sheepishly, a few with daughters who were on tablets. Often, instead of just going to their car and driving home, they’d come in and have 2-3 beers as their kid f*cked around on a tablet. That was a really interesting 90 minutes on a random Friday, just to watch this march of … something.
